Christian Education at GPMC
At Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, there are multiple educational opportunities for
children,
youth, and adults throughtout the year.
On Sunday mornings "Young Children & Worship"
(during the 9 o'clock service) and Sunday school classes are available
for children ages 3 yrs - 12th grade. Also, Adult Education classes are
offered on a wide variety of topics. Children and youth are invited
to participate in
helping to lead worship throughout the year. Each year during the
Advent season the children and youth offer a Christmas pageant during
Sunday morning worship and the children who participate in the LOGOS
program end the year with an offering of a musical during worship.
During the school year, children are invited to participate in LOGOS,
a midweek afterschool program which nurtures a faith relationship with
Jesus Christ, while
connecting children to the church. This program is open to
children in grades
Kindergarten through fifth grade. Also throughout the year
different activities both mission oriented and those at are just plain
fun are planned for our
elementary age children. High school students
are offered an opportunity to work as Christian Education Interns,
participate in the Seekers (confirmation) program, participate with
other church members on local Habitat for Humanity builds, and be a
part of the high school mission trip every summer.
Adults are encouraged to participate in weekday programs such as
Lectionary Bible Study (Monday 10:00am & the 1st & 3rd Monday
nights at 7:30pm), Women's Bible study groups, OWLS (Older, Wiser,
Learning Still; meets 2nd Thursday of month at noon) and the Lay
Theological Academy. Throughout
the year we offer regular opportunities for families to participate and
enjoy fellowship within our community of faith. Some of these
traditions are: Hanging of the Greens, Summer softball games and
picnics, Summer family camping trips and Young Families events (For
families with preschool and early elementary age children).
