Summer Worship is Here Celebrating the Abundance of God: growing faith, growing disciples, growing justice.

Summer
worship hours begin on May 31st, Pentecost Sunday, which means that we
head outside to the Back 40 for 8:30 services and switch to 10 a.m. for
our second service.
This summer we will be building upon
the natural beauty of the lakefront property to praise God for his
goodness and to address issues of environmental stewardship and
justice. Worshipers will walk through and worship beside living
liturgical symbols such as grape vines, wheat, and water. There
will also be various locally grown products available to eat on the way
into worship so that we might, indeed, echo the call of the psalmist:
“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” In fact, if you have
extras from your own vegetable garden feel free to bring them in for
the communion table and to share with others.
Children
will do some garden tending following the soul-tending of the
children’s sermon. During the “Seeds of Faith” time, children 2nd
grade and younger will help grow vegetables in our new garden.
Produce from the garden will be given to a local soup kitchen.
Beginning
in July, each of the Sunday sermons will focus on one of the fruits of
the Spirit from Galatians 5: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Throughout
the summer, we pray that our worship will grow into a living witness to
God’s abundance and the growth of God’s love through the fruits of our
lives. Come celebrate the abundance of God with us this
summer. As always, very casual clothing is welcome, pets are a
wonderful addition, and pray that the rain happens one of the other six
days of the week!
