Children’s Ministry

Programs for Birth – Grade 4

As a congregation committed to upholding the promises made at baptism, we teach our children to live the love of Jesus Christ and to help them recognize the work of God in their lives and in the world.

Childcare

Birth – Age 3

The nursery is open during the morning services for children who aren’t ready to be in the service or Children’s Church. Two paid staff members and volunteers who are trained in child safeguarding under the church’s Child Protection Policy oversee the nursery.

Childcare is frequently available during special events and services at GPMC. For further questions about specifics, contact us.

Sunday School (September – May)

Ages 3 – Grade 4

The Sundays of the month without communion will have Sunday School immediately following the Children’s Sermon at the 9 am service. Children will head to their 3rd-floor classrooms for a lesson which will end at 10:15 am giving parents time for fellowship at the end of the service.

The curriculum is from Sparkhouse. We use a rotation model where one Bible story will be taught for the entire month, and each week we will explore the story in a different way (like music, art, drama, cooking, and science).

Children’s Church

Age 3 – Grade 2*

On the first Sunday of the month during the school year (September – May) at the 9 am service and every Sunday during the summer (June - August) at the 10:30 am service, children are welcome to attend Children’s Church following the Children’s Sermon.

*If your 3rd or 4th grader isn’t ready to stay in the Sanctuary for worship, let them attend Children’s Church. Different children need different things!

Children’s Choir
(September – May)

Grade 1 – 4

The group led by Dr. Logan Hamilton (GPMC’s Minister of Music and Organist) meets on Sundays after Children’s Church/Sunday School from 10:15 – 10:35 am on the 3rd floor.

Children in Worship

On the first Sunday of the month at the 9 am service, we have a participatory worship experience for our youngest members. We will have a child cross bearer, a child acolyte to light a special Christ candle, children ushers, and children liturgists for the Call to Worship. This service includes communion, which is a great opportunity for kids to learn how worship works and that they are invited to the table of grace too.

Special Events

The Christian Education team hosts special events throughout the year, like A Night in Bethlehem in Advent and Vacation Bible School during the summer.

Worship Circle

Birth - 2

Beginning in Fall 2026, we will offer Worship Circle for babies and toddlers (ages birth - 2). Worship Circle will meet the first Sunday of the month at 10:15 am (after the 9 am service) and will be a short worship experience for very young children and their parents.
