Bonding Scent Heart Project

Lend a hand and open your heart to the congregation wide service project Makers and the Outreach Council are co–sponsoring on Sunday, September 20 during Middle Hour. 

NICU babies are very special and have very specialized needs. Some of these prevent new parents from holding, snuggling, bonding with their baby for weeks following their birth. Help us help them bridge the distance between an incubator and a parent. 

We’ll be making pairs of flat flannel hearts. They will be packaged in pairs. The parent will “wear” one under their clothes for a period of time and then leave it to be placed in the child’s incubator. That baby will find comfort in their parents unique scent and this promotes the bonding process. And while one heart is with the baby, the other one is being worn and, in time, the two will be swapped.

Makers will be manning one end of Fellowship Hall during the Middle Hour. Check out the ministry fair that’s going on at the same time and stop by to trace a heart or two. Each table will have the instructions, the materials and a Maker or two to explain the process. Let’s see how many we can send off to Project Sweet Peas (projectsweetpeas.com)
